Questions you have about The Lobby


We had a great worship planning meeting for The Lobby preview gathering on 22 January 2006. Casey, Justin, Gwen, Chip & Julie all contributed about equally and effectively on the team. We're rolling ahead with plans for that first of 3 previews... we'll be going weekly thereafter at Easter-time (that week or the following week most likely).

Request for everyone that drops in: post a quick comment here with any question or wondering you have about "The Lobby" as the launch approaches. What question do you have about what it'll be like? Do you have a more rhetorical wondering about what may or may not happen? Do you have a suspicion you'd like to announce? Chime in and we'll discuss.

    What kind of music will there be at this thing? Will it be like a coffee shopp? More like 59 West or Celebation?

    The best way to describe the music we have planned is: "High energy acousic." By this we mean it won't be a concert-style sound production but it will still be cool songs with a good feel. Far more high energy than Phoebe Buffet in the "Friends" TV Show Coffee shop ("smelly cat-smelly cat") and more like the high energy acoustic sets of an MTV unplugged episode... only with understandable lyrics that praise God. :-) [if you don't get my references here then I apologize].

    High energy but acoustic guitar driven is the style we're aiming at.

    To anonymous' question about the coffee shop feel?

    The Lobby won't be a coffee shop, per se, but it will hopefully have that kind of a feel. With some tables to sit around, interactive times, coffee or tea to sip on; hopefully it will create an atmosphere for casual, informal conversation.

    I believe it will have a whole different feel than 59 West or Celebration. That's the point of creating another venue - something different.

    The Lobby will be in the main lobby of SLWC which is in the East Building.

    It will be at 6:00 PM on Sunday nights.

    We'll have preview gatherings on these dates:

    January 22 @ 6pm Sunday night
    February 26 @ 6pm Sunday night
    March 26 @ 6pm Sunday night

    Check the next post on the blog for a new FAQ that's been created.
